A chinese person's
name is composed of two parts: the surname and the first name.
In chinese, the
surname always goes infront of the first name. This is different from
western languages.
Nomrally surnames have
one syllable, for example:
张 Zhang1
王 Wang2
李 Li3
赵 Zhao4
刘 Liu2
etc.
There are only a few
two syllable surnames:
Zhu1ge3
Ou1yang2
Shang4guan1
etc.
Normally chinese fornames
either have one syllable or two syllables. On the whole, they have two
syllables.
A chinese name usually
has its own meaning. Many chinese names are poetic and are related to
the countryside or they refer to beautiful things.
