In chinese the name
of countries is expressed in two ways:
When the
name of a country is a one syllable word you add "guo2"
to the country:
zhong1guo2
fa3guo2
ying1guo2
mei3guo2
etc.
With countries with
two syllables or more you omit the word "guo2":
ri4ben3
(Japón)
xi1ban1ya2
(España)
ao4da4li4ya4
(Australia)
etc.
