In
our mind, a hand has five long fingers. The image is similar to that of
a flour with long petals.
Seen
from this angle, the hand doesn't "look like" a hand, and the aim of
this exercise is precisely this.
Try
and close one eye whilst you draw, to appreciate the lines more clearly.
Try
to draw, as in the shoe exercise, without looking at the paper all
the time, but at the model. Have faith in what you see, even if it
seems a little "strange".
