You can
present the aeroplane on its own or you can present it in a situation
and give it some life: a diorama.
In the
next two lessons you can see a few dioramas, or scenes in which our
plane is the protagonist. In another one of my courses, I will show
you how to make a diorama.
Diorama
of Focke-Wulf (Fw-190 D-9)
The Fw-190
D-9 was one of the last aeroplanes of the Third Reich and of the second
world war. It is a pretty model in the scale of the 1:32 and it is
made by the brand Hasegawa.
A diorama
can tell us a story. In this case we can see an official from the
British army observing a Focke-Wulf parked on a runway. This situation
could be seen at the end of the Second World War, when the allies
were conquering German soil.
The diorama
consists of a wooden base (in this case I have used the brand Custom
Dioramics in the scale of 1:32, although we can make our own with
molding paste, as I taught you in another course) bushes, grass and
foliage.
I have
made the grass using moss, the type that we use at Christmas to make
the Nativity Scenes. I bought the bushes at a florists and the flowers
and foliaje I made with the flowers that they sell for the centre
of the table in the florists. You have to use your imagination.
This diorama
is simple but it also gives impact.
Diorama
of Stuka (Junkers Ju-87 R2)
In this
case the diorama has an aeroplane (the Stuka) which has just landed
and which is about to be parked to be maintained and built back to
strength for a new mission.
We have
used theStuka R-2 by Hasegawa in the scale of 1:48, and a Kettenkrad
by Tamiya in the scale of 1:48 , two figures of the same brand, drums,
box of amunition, grass and bushes, the runway by Custom Dioramics
in the scale of 1:48 and a wooden base.
The diorama
has been made the same way as the previous one. Normally, the runway
is painted grey, shadowing the panel lines (see the course about tanks
on aulafacil.com) with earthy oil paints heavily diluted with turpentine.
The lines on the runway are painted with yellow, always make sure
that they are not parallel to the surrounding land.
