Materials

We will begin by shaping the materials.

We are going to paint our still life’s using oil paints, therefore, we need an adequate support. The chosen surface will make a difference (sometimes very different) in the final result.

Let's begin with the drawing board. The tablex is a good support, but it needs to be primed before we start using oil paints on it. You can get boards like the one that you see in the photos, which come already prepared.

Drawing boards give a smoother and less absorbent surface than material boards, which give the result of the painting being brighter and with a more uniform texture.
