.

We use charcoal sticks to draw with.
Charcoal leaves a powder on the canvas which is very easy to erase. Once on the canvas, we can get rid of the excess with a cloth. If we do not do this, the colours can get stained with the black charcoal and they can even smudge.

As the charcoal is very fragile, we keep it in foil so that it doesn’t stain the box and crumble.

.

Oil paints come in different sized tubes. Normally, white is the colour we use the most; therefore it is practical to get a slightly bigger tube of white.

Now if asked which paints are imperative, every painter has his/her favourite, but time will tell which ones are necessary for your palette.

Generally, you need to have cadmium yellow, cadmium red, navy blue, emerald green and some earthy colours, violet, beige and ivory black.

Many colours are made mixing colours, but orange achieved by mixing will never be as bright as cadmium orange.
