The
Advertisers
The advertiser
is the person/company that creates the advert.
In the Coca Cola adverts the advertiser is the company Coca Cola.
The most typical advertisers are companies. However, sometimes non
lucrative organizations and Government Organizations carry out advertising
campaigns e.g. Red Cross, Oxfam, etc. Even people who put a poster
on the wall advertising their house for sale are carrying out publicity.
The companies
. In many countries the majority of publicity is paid for by companies
that are trying to promote their products or services. The car manufacturer
Ford try to promote their car models and services that they offer.
Non lucrative
Organizations.
These are social organizations that do not try and obtain benefits
for their company but try to promote their intentions and they need
to communicate with society. Some organizations try to get money to
help poor people, orphans, to help the environment or promote differente
causes. Charities carry out Marketing activities to achieve their
objectives which can be very varied. Publicity can help these organizations
get staff or volunteers, difuse their ideas, defend their goals, obtain
resources, etc.
Political
parties, companies, trade union organizations and all types of organizations
try to promote themselves through marketing and carrying out commercial
communication or publicity.
Public
Administration.
The army, government agencies and local governements regularly carry
out publicity campaigns. The following example is an advert from the
Exchequer. This is an advert which tries to create a good image for
this public sector.
The people.
If we place an advert in a local newspaper to sell our car or house
we are advertisitng. A magician, a specialist wedding singer and a
lawyer can all place adverts to offer their services to the community.
In some
countries the advertising of certain professions like lawyers and
doctors are heavily regulated and sometimes prohibited. In other countries
like the USA it is normal to see lawyers and lawyers firms advertising
their services with paid adverts.
