11. METHODS OF ESSENTIAL OIL ADMINISTRATION. (Continued)

AROMATHERAPY BATH METHOD.

In Aromatherapy, these baths can be used as full-body baths or they can be limited to some parts of the body. For example, hands and feet.

They can be very relaxing and contribute greatly on irregularities found in lower limbs.

Depending on the essential oil we use, it can be either relaxing or stimulant. We must choose them according to our preferences or needs.

This method acts in two ways:
   — When we step into the bathtub, the water acts upon our organism absorbing the oil through our skin.
  — The same as inhalation, essences release a delightful perfume.

Essential oils can't dilute in water. Thus, we must know how to work them together. I will show you two ways to do this:

  •  Add half cup of milk to the water. Stir it and then add the essence you wish to use.
  •     Pour one or two spoons vegetable based oil (it can be almond, avocado, or wheat oil) into the water. Then, add some drops of the essential oil.

If the water is warm , the result will be a relaxing and sedating bath. On the other hand, if the water is hot, it will be a toning bath. However, the amount of time must be taken into consideration. The bath shouldn't be too long since this would weaken you.

SUGGESTION:

Add the essential oils when the bathtub is completely full with water and the faucet closed. If after some time of being in the water you feel the smell is decreasing, don't run to pour some more oil into the water. Your sense of smell is getting used to the scent.

NEVER:

Baths which are too hot are not adequate for pregnant women, people with varicose veins, or people who suffer from cardiac illnesses.
