5. CLASSIFICATION OF ESSENTIAL OILS.

According to their properties, oils are classified like this: flowers, citric, resins, stems and leaves.

F L O W E R S

Flower essences are recommended to fight stress since they are excellent cellular regenerators, and fight mental and emotional fatigue.

However, they are not recommended during pregnancy since they help trigger menstrual cycles.

These essences can be used against problems on reproductive organs. Since they also help regenerate cells, they are used on beauty treatments as well as on tissues which have been affected by burns or wounds.

Some flower essences we could mention are: camomile, ylang ylang, lavender and geranium.

C I T R I C

They are widely known for their antiseptic properties and are frequently used to treat infections of any type. They are excellent against intoxication in the organism; they clean and regulate appetite and collaborate on weight reduction. They are frequently used in esthetic centres to fight cellulitis, acne, eczema, and psoriasis.

Among some citric fruits we could mention: orange, lemon, lime, tangerine, etc.

R E S I N S


They are excellent skin rejuvenator thanks to their properties. They are recommended for wrinkled skin and stretch mark treatments. They can be used as environmental cleaners. When resins are mixed with citric essences, they can be used to heal swollen skin.

Among them, we have: myrrh and incenses.

 S T E M S

These essences help soften and tone the skin. One characteristic found on these essences is insect repellant.

However, if we mix them with cloves, thymus, and cedar, they help relaxation notoriously.

Among these essences, we could mention: rosemary, mint, dill, cinnamon, lavender, sagebrush, etc.

L E A V E S


Among their properties, we could say they are excellent collaborators when picking up mood and balancing emotions when these experience trauma or conflict.

Remedies that fight mental illnesses have been found from these essences. On the other hand, they re not recommended during pregnancy.

Among them, we can mention: patchouli, mint, rosemary, basil, oregano, fennel, salvia, pine needles, and marjoram.
