Lesson 12ª

Thorn or Russian Stitch and its variants.

With this stitch, we can decorate any type of clothing, quilts or dinner table mantles. We can embroider any type of fabric with white or coloured threads depending on your taste.

Generally, it is executed vertically, from top to bottom, or it can also be done horizontally, from right to left. The following procedure is the Stitch executed vertically.

We pull the needle through the front side of the fabric leaving the strand of thread loose to form a lace downward. We grab this lace with our left thumb. Again, we insert the needle a short distance from where we just pulled it out initially going over 6 or 8 threads under the fabric, pulling the needle out through the middle of the lace we formed previously. Then, we execute the same stitch to one side and the other. The spot where we pull the needle out from should always remain vertical one under the other.

Thorn Stitch or Russian Stitch Variants.

Oblique Thorn Stitch. Instead of pulling the needle in a vertical manner, one stitch under the other, we make it slightly deviating once to the right and another time to the left alternating between them.
