FABRIC:

We must use the proper ones. Any type of fabric can be used for embroidering, but there are types of Embroidery which require specific types of fabric.

THREADS:

Any type of thread can be used. However, depending on the type of Embroidery, some will be better suited than others. For every Embroidery Stitch we see in this course, we will tell the proper one to use. The colour is entirely your choice.

Just as well, instead of using threads, we can use silk laces or ribbons for the same purpose. .

SCISSORS:

The larger and heavier types are more common for cutting fabric. The smaller ones with fine points are used in Embroidery to cut thread, ribbons, etc. We must always keep them sharp. A way of keeping scissors sharp is by cutting small pieces of sanding paper with them. The sanding paper shouldn't be too fine nor too coarse.

NEEDLES:

Before we begin the Embroidery, it is necessary to establish the types of thread we will use so we can choose the proper needle.

The most commonly used needles to embroider are numbers 8, 9 and 10, which is the finest. There are also some long and thick needles, other with a large eye to use thicker threads, laces or ribbons.

FRAME:

It is used to keep the fabric tense to embroider. It can be made out of wood or acrylic. They come in different sizes. WE place the fabric we want to embroider with the design located in the centre of the smaller frame. We adjust the second frame (Larger frame) to tighten the fabric.

If in any point in this course we use any other type of material, we will describe them as well.

We expect you to like this course, given its clear and accurate procedures for each one of the stitches described. We will complement each explanation with example pictures as well as the necessary knowledge to perform different tasks.
