Bastille or Hilvan Stitch and its variants. (Continued)
We embroider a Bastille row with small passes and we use another thread (same or different colour) to cover it with a series of small narrow stitches one next to the other. This variant is sometimes called Chord Stitch.
To give it a higher raised look to this stitch, we can extend a thicker thread along the previously embroidered line, covering it using the same procedure as the one described previously.
Another variant of the Bastille Stitch is by making several bastille rows, and passing a thread through the parallel backstitches beginning from the bottom to the top.
Back Stitch
This Stitch is executed from left to right pulling the needle out through the front side of the fabric. We insert it 6 or more threads to the left and we pull it back out 3 or more threads trying to get the needle to appear half way through the previous Stitch, being careful that the strand of the thread we are using is always over or under the needle.
