Chain Stitch.
It is frequently used in Embroidery, or to highlight the borders of any theme we have applied. It is executed by pulling the needle out through the initial point of the Embroidery. We pull out the entire strand. Once again, we insert the needle through the initial stitch of the Embroidery forming a small lace which will go under the needle. Once again, we pull the needle out 5 or 6 threads ahead forming a ring or chain link.
Again, we insert the needle at the exit point and we repeat successive stitches until we finish the design.
Chain Stitch Variants
REPULGUE CHAIN. We make a simple chain. Then, we cover it with a thread of different contrasting colour (it can also be the same colour) under the chain without sticking the needle through the fabric underneath, pass the thread wrapping each Chain Stitch with a small repulgue stitch.
ZIGZAG CHAIN. The chain is executed alternating the stitches in an oblique manner, in other words, directing the needle to the left and to the right to get the zigzag shape.
Three-link chain. This is a simple task. It is composed by 3 chain stitches which form a small flower.
