Movement
In the following example, you will see 4 photographs taken using different shutter speeds. They were shot holding the camera with my hand so not only the subject (jumping) will be moving but the background will move as well.
In this first photograph, I used a shutter speed of 1/60. Notice how the background and the subject (even though he is jumping) are frozen.
In this second photograph, I used a shutter speed of 1/40, in other words, lower. Now you can see some movement visible and the background is not as sharp as in the previous picture.
