INTRODUCTION

Embroidering with running stitch consists in combining a basting stitch with horizontal, vertical and angled rows; made with different coloured threads alternating in each turn.

This embroidery is defined by forming geometrical shapes, such as squares, rectangles, rhombus, triangles or a combination of them.

The most common fabrics used for embroidery are: raw linen, Tergal, quadrille; due to the fact that they make the counting of threads easy by the separation found in between.

The most appropriate kinds of thread for this type of embroidery are those which guarantee a firm dye, an ample variety of colours, to be able to free our imagination to form beautiful gradients.

GENERAL ASPECTS

To begin embroidering, we must between the fabric by folding it in half both horizontally as well as vertically marking the point in which they meet with pins. We begin embroidering in this spot. Once we are finished with the first round, we begin another starting from the same location we marked previously.

This procedure is only done on the first run of the embroidery. It will be our baseline.
