Lesson 10ª

Over and under exposure with flash

Let's see some practical examples of how a picture varies according to how change the EV function.

In these photos you can see the child as darkening or lightening is going according to EV use.

Remember that all photos are made with built-in flash with a compact camera.

If the photo, after changing the EV still remains obscure, another option is to use a higher sensitivity.

If, for example, we were taking the picture with ISO 100 ISO can try 200, 400 or more to make the picture come out well exposed.

As the flash has a maximum, when we are far away, the flash fails to illuminate the scene. Another option to avoid dark photos is close to what you want to photograph.

Obviously this is not always possible but must be taken into account for certain situations.

If I'm doing a picture with flash and the photo comes out dark, my first choice would be to approach the person I'm photographing, if still dark out, then increase the intensity of the flash using the EV.

And if you still dark out then, only then, change the ISO on the camera.
