Lesson 17ª

Rinse the bottom

Another thing you can do when we use flash is to clarify the background. That is the opposite of this.

To lighten the background we will also use the speed, but instead of turning up the speed and when we wanted to darken the background, let's slow down the camera.

We will see again the example where the background and the girl are well exposed. Remember I took this photo using f / 8 to 1/50.

In the next picture I used the same aperture, but instead of using a speed of 1/50, used a speed of 1/10.

As you can see the bottom out much whiter or burned. And the light begins to invade even a little girl. The light background gives a more ethereal feel to the photo.

It also helps to eliminate some background details that can distract the viewer. This resource is widely used in Fashion Photography.

If we lower the speed too much background light will start to encroach too much on the subject and the picture will be completely overexposed.

You have to try different speeds until you find the right one. There is no limit to slow down while the photo is good and interesting.

In this picture I used a speed of 3 seconds. You can see how the photo did not turn out well at all.

The fund is completely overexposed, but she is too. And even the whole picture is moved. This speed, in this situation, is too low for a good photo.
