Present Conditional
The conditional is mainly used to describe an action that could
happen if another action overcomes a certain condition.
| Si J'étais là,
J'irais au cinéma |
If I were there, I would go
to the cinema (for me to go the cinema the previous condition
has to be fulfilled - I need to be there) |

| Si tu parlais anglais, tu pourrais travailler avec nous |
If you spoke French, you would
be able to work with us (in order to work with us, you have
to fulfil the previous condition - you have to be able to speak
French) |
It is also used to ask for things in a polite and formal way:
| Je voudrais un café au lait |
I would like a white coffee

| Pourrais-je ouvrir la fenêtre ? |
Could you open the window? |
Or to give advice:
| À ta place, J'étudierais un peu plus |
In your position, I
would study a little more |
The present conditional is formed by taking the future tense. You
take off the future endings and add the following:
