In 1955 they created
the first "Theme Park": Disneyland. In 1971, in Orlando, Florida, Walt
Disney World opened its doors to the public.
Based on the Disney
characters, the two parks does not appear to be anything like other
parks. Disney offers an "ideal" world. A world without dirt, without
bad things and without people with bad moods, full of magic where
fictional characters triumph over the badies.
Disney parks give both
children and adults happines. There are green areas, benches to relax
on. There aren't any cars, just trains and horse drawn carts. These
parks are full of dreams.
In 1983, the Disney
group opened a park in Tokyo, Japan. In April 1992 they opened
Eurodisney in Paris but the park didn't work as they had anticipated.
French consumerism does not behave in the same way as American or
Japanese consumerism. But today Disneyland Paris receives more than 12
million tourists a year.
Walt Disney World is the
preferred desination for world tourists. Tokyo Disneyland is the most
visited theme park in the world. Tokyo Disneyland Sea is the second
most visited. Disneyland Paris is the most visited place in Europe.
In September 2005, the
Walt Disney Company opened the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort in China. It
is said that the Disney ghost can be visited in a couple of the
Disneyland buildings.
