It's the first day of
class. Caroline and I get up at 6:30. We have breakfast at 7:00, we
leave the house at 7:45 and the classes begin at 8:30.
As there are lots of
parks in Saint-Denis, it is a pleasure walking to the Univeristy Paris
8.
Apart from classes of
Architecture, I also have French classes. My French teacher is a tall
blonde girl with blue eyes. Her name is Elisabeth Montagnier and she
lives in La Courneuve which is not very far from Saint-Denis.
In our class there are
25 students all different nationalities. There are students that are
there because of the Erasmus project, and there are also foreigners
there that live in France. There are Spaniards, Germans, Italians,
Chinese, Norwegans, English and other nationalities.
Our teacher has
explained to us that French is spoken by 100 million people. There are
still 17 African states where the French language is official. The
French language still occupies a priviledged position as a diplomatic
language. Here in Europe, French is spoken in Belgium (south),
Luxembourg, Roman Switzerland and Italy (in the Val d´Aoste).
Caroline will come and
find me after class. I finish at 6:30 in the afternoon. We will walk
home together. We will have dinner at 7:30.
