Accusative Declension
The accusative is used for words that function as the direct object:
| Ich habe einen Hund |
I have a dog. |
| Mein Bruder hat einen Wagen |
My brother has a car. |
| Sie hat eine Schwester |
She has a sister |
Al igual que ocurría con el nominativo, en el acusativo tienen que concordar el sustantivo, y el artículo y adjetivo que le acompañan:
| Ich habe einen neuen Freund |
Yo tengo un nuevo amigo |
| Du hast eine neue Kollegin |
Tú tienes una nueva compañera |
| Wir haben ein neues Haus |
Nosotros tenemos una casa nueva |
En cuanto al adjetivo, en su acusativo ocurre algo similar a lo que vimos en la lección anterior al estudiar el caso nominativo: su terminación depende de la palabra (artículo, posesivo, determinativo, etc.) que le anteceda:
a) If the adjective has a definite article in front of it (den, die, das), the adjective ends with the endings "-en" (masculine), "-e" (feminine and neutral) amd "-en" (plural):

b) If the adjective has an indefinite article in front of it (einen, eine, ein), or a possessive, the adjective ends in "-en" (masculine), "-e" (feminine), "-es" (neutral) and "en" (plural):

c) In the case that the adjective is not preceded by any word, then it ends in "-en" (masculine), "-e" (feminine), "-es" (neutral), and "-e" (plural):
