Guide Lines 2

Now that the margins are defined to create a frame, we can create one using the Rectangle Select Tool. THis is another use of this tool.

Once we select this tool, we place the cursor over one corner of our guide lines. With the 'Replace current selection' mode selected, we click and drag the mouse following the guides.

Once we reach the opposite corner, we release the button of the mouse and the rectangle will be formed.

Since we want to select only the borders, we will invert the selection. We can do this by going to the Select menu and choose the option Invert.

This selection will show us the area that encompasses the frame of the image. For a better distribution of the elements, we must create a new Layer which we will call Frame.

Now, we only need to fill it with colour, a pattern or Gradient of our choosing.

Once we have filled it, we can deselect it by pressing CTRL + Shift + A.

Since we won't be using the guides anymore, we can remove them. Choose the Move tool and place the cursor over one of them. Click and drag the mouse towards the ruler to remove them.
