Filters

Gimp, as in other image editing programs, has filters we can use to get different effects in an image. Each program develops different filters, but most of them show a correlation of filter groups to achieve specific effects.

We won't explain this in depth since each filter deserves special attention. However, we will distinguish this group of filters, or at least, the most common ones.

To access the Filters, we need to select the Filters menu.

You will notice that several groups are displayed and some with their respective sub-menu represented by an arrow. As we move the cursor over each of them, we can see their corresponding options.

Just to make a small filters example, we will apply some of the options found in the Artistic group. We will use this group because most of its results intends to transform common pictures into forms of expression.
