Lesson 56 ª

Touch-up Tools: Blur/Sharpen Tool

The use of the Blur/Sharpen Tool and Dodge/Burn Tool, are peculiar due to their alternate use depending on what we want to do.

For example, if we select the Blur/Sharpen Tool, we will see an Option called 'Convolve Type' and the word (CTRL) next to it.

We can use this tool in two ways, or we can select one of the 2 types by selecting it, or while we are working on the document, we can alternate between one and the other by pressing the CTRL key.

In the example we have, we will Blur some of the areas around the plane and sharpening others to make the plane stand out better.

With this, we can highlight some areas. This can very well be applied to poorly-shot photographs (out of focus), or on the contrary, we want to add blur to the image for a specific artistic result.
