Creating a Document - 2

Now that we know how useful (or not) a specific resolution or size is, we are almost ready to create a new document. Gimp also has templates which allow us to establish sizes with common configurations, such as :

The size of some monitors: to create images for desktop backgrounds.

Different printing paper sizes: of which A4 or A5 are the most common

For banners or posters: which we can use for advertising at web sites or virtual stores.

And, the size of Television screens: both NTSC or Pal, in case we need to make slides for a video.

We can also choose the orientation of the image by using the 2 buttons below (see where it says 'portrait'): Vertical or Portrait, depending on what we're working on.

Once we have made a decision about the size, we click on OK. To start again, or in case we change our mind about something, we select Resent. This way, we can choose the configuration we want once again.

Once we have our configuration and we have clicked on OK, our document will be ready for us to work on in our work area.
