As you can see, since the colour is opaque (dull) and since we are working on the same layer, the colour covers the lines.
The easiest way to colour is this:
We create a copy of the background. We place it as the first layer (over the other ones).
We set it in "multiply" mode.
And, we colour in the other layers.
