Face powder

After we have applied the base (or foundation) and eye concealer correctly, we go to the final step to provide uniformity and smoothness to the face: applying Face powder.

Basically, there are 2 types:

  • Loose.
  • Compact.

Your choice will depend on the type of skin we are working on; if it is a NORMAL or DRY skin, it is better if we use compact Face powders; if the skin is MIXED or OILY, it is better if we use loose Face powders.

The way we apply Face powders in professional makeup is a very important aspect since they set our makeup and eliminate any unwanted shine.

Face powder colours

We must use the same tone or a similar one to the tone we used on the base/foundation. We also have the possibility of using translucent powders. These also set our makeup and eliminate shine, but don't provide any colour.

Form of application

To apply Face powders, we need to allow between 3 to 4 minutes for the base and eye concealer to properly set. Then, we must apply them using soft and uniform movements.

We need to apply a relatively thick layer and blend the face powder until no more is visible.

Now, the face is ready to begin applying the rest of the products which will provide colour and beauty.

Tip: to guide yourself better during application, you can draw a number 3 on both sides of the face with a brush or a sponge or puff.
