Depth of focus

 

In this picture there is great depth of focus. He sees all, where the photo was made, all elements of the environment, etc.. In short, a distracted looking at everything around, instead of focusing only on the model look.

This picture would have benefited a lot with a little depth of focus. In this particular case it was impossible to control because it was made with a compact camera and the model did not collaborate much that day.

This photo was made in the field with Trix400 black and white film from Kodak. In this picture I look to have much depth of focus so that they could see every detail of what was happening. So I used an aperture f/22.

As you can see the depth of focus plays an important role in composing and improve an image. You can be the difference between a picture is bad, good or awesome.
