The Planning Process

Quality Mission.

A crucial element is the development of the quality mission. It provides guidance to the organization and a calling to everyone involved of what's important for the organization. The mission report must be done in writing, short, clear and concise. It has the strategic role of guiding the organization in the use of quality policies.

Establishing a quality policy.

Quality policies provide guidelines on what must be done, against how it must be done. They operate generically and are applied to every type of work scheme and upon the entire organization. Quality policies will be analysed by both internal agents as well as external so the organization must commit to this policies.

Generating strategic quality objectives.

An objective must be determinable, operative, measurable and must be concrete.

There are several methods that depend on operative circumstances:

•  Data of past actions.

•  External environment (client)

•  Fixing standards

•  Based on the competition

The can also come from applying quality techniques like the ones we will see in the lesson about quality control.

Whatever the source and reach may be, they should be communicated to and accepted by the personnel. They must be able to know what these objectives will be beforehand and be able to influence in their making. At the same time, these objectives should also value constant improvement as a fundamental element for every level.
