Reliable and reduced costs products that emerge from a controlled production process.

Traditionally, quality control was normally carried out once the productive process was finished. Errors and mistakes were corrected as a result of sub-optimal planning and a non-integrated production process, and as a result, not properly controlled (Pfeiffer 1996). Pfeiffer points out that a total quality system must act upon every production process and as soon as possible. He states that errors and mistakes are corrected with lower effort and cost in previous productive stages.

Production Control

This deduction comes from the fact that a quality system acts in a general manner linking each and every one of the productive processes. Once these processes are involved “on-line” in manufacturing, it allows the enterprise to control its production process completely. This results in a reduced time of production, reduced unitary product costs, and optimal products. The competitiveness of the enterprise is affected positively reaching a level of excellence (Cimento, Knister et al. 1994).
