Faded wash. Begin your wash with more colour than water. This will saturate the colour in comparison to the amount of water you will use to make the wash. Then, as you use the wash to paint, load the brush with more clean water on each stroke.
Mixed wash. Mixing several colours, gently jumping from one colour to the other one.
