Overriding comment settings on individual Posts and Pages

You might have turned off comments altogether on your website in Lesson 13, but maybe you have them turned and would like to turn them off only on a particular post or page.

Here's how!

As you know, when creating a post you must click "Posts" and then "Add New". As we have already discussed, you can add your post content, add tags, and place the post into categories.

To turn comments on or off you would scroll down to "Discussion".

Here you can either check or uncheck "Allow Comments"

You can also choose whether to allow trackbacks... these are the notifications to and from this blog that we discussed in Lesson 13.

One of the useful things of this option is that you can also turn off comments on posts that have already long been published and might already have been commented on. If allows you to, if needed, to cut short a conversation that is getting out of hand.

Simply visit "Posts" then "Edit" then edit the post in question. Uncheck "Allow Comments" and click "Update Post". No further comments can now be added.
