LIGHTING
IN THE COCKPIT
In the
next photo you can see the aeroplane's control panel. To add lighting
to this and to the whole cockpit you need to use a colour which is
lighter than the base: for example a light grey by Vallejo.
As we have
airbrushed with extremely diluted paint the shadows we can apply the
dry brush technique (without getting carried away, as if we do this
the result will be negative). For this technique you need to get a
flat brush, load it with paint, get a paper serviette and brush some
of the paint off so that there is hardly any paint left.
Now using
the brush rub it onto the edges and projecting parts of the cockpit
(make sure the brush hardly has any paint on it) Apply the small amount
of paint that is still on the bristles of the brush to the projecting
parts, giving it volume and the worn look. Use Vallejo light grey
paint.
There is
an obvious contrast in colour between the base, shadows and lights.
I have to tell you that you need to be careful: don't get too keen
with one or the other, but fundamentaly with the dry brush.
