Lesson 6ª

Flash off

There are situations where it is best to turn off the flash because if we have it in the camera automatically detects low light and it will fire. And maybe the flash finishes ruining the photo.

The sign off is usually the flash symbol within a circle with a slash through it.
When should I take pictures without flash? Well if I am taking pictures at a concert for example. If I take flash photos will most likely leave me the picture dark.

What for me is to use a slightly higher sensitivity and turn off the flash. The stage lights are generally quite strong so it's more likely that by not using flash I can get a decent picture.

Ideally, that does not blur the picture, it would put the camera on a tripod, but that does not always possible.

This photo was taken in a children's show. The only light was obviously stage. If I took a photo with flash would not really be any difference because the flash would not reach the stage lighting.

What I did was use a higher sensitivity, ISO1600, and take the picture without flash. As you can see, although this is a snapshot, the picture was well exposed and illuminated.
