SAVING TIME AT HOME

The following is a nightmare for all housewives: left overs from yesterdays dinner in the kitchen, clothes thrown onto the floor, the sink looking yellow and greasy, the patio covered in fallen leaves, drink stains on the floor, dirty mirrors, a pile of dirty clothes waiting to be washed, toys all over the house, etc. All of this without mentioning the effect of pets in your house.

If you observe all of these things at once, you could feel a little down, but don't worry, later we will give you some advice so that you can put everything in order quickly and efficiently.

Order is the main element that will help us with this arduous task. How often have we said that we will tidy everything up at the same time? and when it's time, we can't be bothered...and we leave it for later! Delaying this task means more work builds up and in the end we are going to have to organize the whole house.

You can buy numerous things to store your belongings in. For example, with our children we can have a deposit system or different coloured storing boxes for each of our children - with the aim of keeping their belongings separate - you can do this with clothes, toys and their personal items. Doing this you are helping to keep your house in order.

Finding a place for everything is fundamental. If your kids leave their school bags anywhere we should ask ourselves, have we given them a specific place to keep their bags?

When things are NOT clear it is difficult to organize.

A system that may also function is placing dirty laundry into a basket or separate box, this way at the end of the day you will know what needs to be washed. This way, both children and adults will know where to put their dirty laundry. Later, before placing clothes into the washing machine, you can separate the clothes that are white, coloured, different materials, etc to avoid the clothes getting damanged or stained in the cleaning process.

I also recommend that you separate certain clothes like socks, handkerchiefs and underwear, so that when you are looking for a determined pair of socks, you find it immediately.

What do you do with empty boxes? These constitute an important element when we talk about order, as we can use them to store important documents, books, magazines or bills that you would like to save for some reason. Every box can be labelled according to its contents, for example, bills and receipts, magazines, books, etc. Doing this you will achieve storing your documents and you will have them at hand when you need them in the future.

Nowadays, something that has turned into a bit of a headache is storing CD's and DVD's. If you are not careful, you will find outselves with a mountain of these things and you won't know what to do with them.

There are CD or DVD organizers, we can clasify films, music and pictures. Besides, it is important to remember that we can label each CD or DVD with permanent marker, in such a way that if you loose the original CD or DVD holder, you will know the contents of the CD or Dvd. Personally I prefer CD holders which are like folders, this way you can see your CD or Dvd's without having to take them out of the case, this also protects them against damage.
