DYNAMICS OF INTEGRATION
This
task is perfect to use if your objectives is to unite a group. You can
also use this task to get members to overcome prpblems and get the
group working together again.
However,
this task should mainly be carried out during the group's birth-growth
phase. The task will help the group members to gain confidence, relax
infront of people they hardly know and integrate with new colleagues.
This task can also be used to simply create an adequate work atmosphere.
Persue the main objective which is group unity, but allow other objectives, for example:
Get members of the group to make new friendships.
Outline
the group's interests and then each member of the group's individual
interests. This information can guide the leader with his daily plan.
Create a good atmosphere, based on cooperation, trust and group participation.
Generate self confidence (not only as an individual but also as a group) in all of the group components
Team work.
13.a) FINISH THE STORY
OBJECTIVE.- Promote team work, creativity and participation.
NECESSARY MATERIAL.- Chairs
AGE.- Any
HOW
TO DEVELOP THE TASK.- The leader should divide the group into teams
wjth the same amount of people in each team. The diferrent teams should
find their own space within the area (interior or exterior) where the
task is taking place. The presenter will then start telling the group a
story with the aim that they will finish the story according to how the
presenter wants it finished. The team that finishes first has to tell
their story to the rest of the group.
The story could start like this: One
afternoon some friends got together for some food and whilst eating
together, one of the friends suggested that the group went on holiday
together. They began to have an argument about the destiantion.
When...... At this moment in time, the presenter informs the
teams that the story should have a happy ending. The teams have to get
together and the first team to end the story has to read it out. When
the story has been read out the presenter can ask the different team
members how they felt in their team, if he feels he knows his team
members better, if their thoughts coincided, etc.
VARIANTS.-
The story can be anything the presenter chooses or invents. The
presenter can propose happy, sad and surprising endings.
