SAVING
TIME AS A TOURIST (II).
During your stay
Make sure that all the members
of your party have their ID documents, driving licenses and/or
passports in a safe and accesible place. It is likely that you will
have to show your passport at least twice before you get on the plane.
Nowadays, we have the
opportunity to do everything "on line". Most airlines don't issue
tickets. However, always have your flight number at hand.
You should always make sure
you have your flight and hotel information with you. Place everything
into an envelope or folder, so that it is easy to transport, ideally in
your hand luggage. Don't forget to make photocopies of documents and
keep them in your main suitcase
When you arrive at the
airport, always leave a margin of two to three hours before the flight
is due to depart. You will need time to go through the airport
security, etc. There are a lot of unexpected things that can happen to
you when you are at the airport. Therefore it is a good idea to go with
a time margin. Find out beforehand what documents, copies, forms ,etc
you need. If you can, fill out the necessary forms beforehand.
Nobody likes going through the
metal detector at the airport. What I advise you to do is remove all
metal objects that you are wearing or have in your pockets e.g. belt,
coins, pens, etc. Regarding shoes, wear comfortable shoes that are easy
to slip on and off, just in case they ask you to remove them at the
airport.
At the tourist attraction
Try to get there early so
that you are the first to arrive. This way you will avoid the crowds
and your family will be able to have an enjoyable time without
problems. In the afternoon take a break and recharge your batteries!
If you are going to an
evening show/performance, I suggest you eat dinner early and then go
and enjoy the event. This way your family can enjoy a full day of
entertainement.
ALWAYS
ARRANGE A MEETING PLACE JUST IN CASE A MEMBER OF THE FAMILY GETS
SEPARATED
Often adolescents are
interested in particular things and want to separate from the group. In
this case, it is essential that the family or group have a meeting
place, so that once they have finished their tour or visit they can
meet there. This meeting place can be the entrace to the cinema, a
café, etc. You should always set a time when to meet at the
meeting place.
In order to have a comfortable
journey, take comfortable shoes with you and if possible a rain coat
(you never know when it is going to rain). To protect yourself from the
sun take a hat with you. Also take a ruck sack or small bag where you
can keep your souvenirs.
I always remind my friends to
take their camera with them. As more often than not someone forgets
theirs. Instead of having to worry about borrowing a friends, you can
buy disposible cameras, which can be bought at a low cost. Having
photos from a trip can help you remember special moments.
Always remember to carry extra
money with you, be it for food, drinks, sourvenirs, etc. This piece of
advice is especially important if you have children with you. As they
frequently have cravings for certain things, etc.
