WAYS OF CONSIDERING TIME (III)

Time as a referee

When a person consdiers time as the referee, this simply means that he is considering time as a judge.

In this case, the MBR points out the following cases:

Adquire the means of absolute cronological precision.

Some people invest a lot of money in good quality time pieces, others furnish their houses or offices with a great variety of clocks and others rely on radios to tell them the time. These different styles mean that the person is in sinc with the referee.

Lie and conceal.
Even when the referee has awarded you time, it doesn't mean that you accept his decisions. It is for this reason that people use phrases like "I'm going to escape for a break", "I'm going to steal a moment to..." to indicate that: a) they know they are contravening the orders and they shouldn't be doing what they are doing; b) they want to do it and they will do it; c) they accept the blame for the violation they have commited, but they hope to get out of the punishment that they deserve.

Desire to please the external authority.
Psychologically the clock represents their father, teacher or boss. Note that people in such a psychological state don't look at the clock to have neutral information; they look at the time and smile, worry or get annoyed with the implied message that the instrument sends us.

Give in to the temptation of periodic changes in normal activities.
People that see time as a referee sometimes feel the need to escape. This explains the unconnected behaviour of a conscientious and highly disciplined person. On their days off they like to climb mountains or they let their beards grow. Sometimes a responsible employee, without any type of illness, calls in sick after having completed a stressfull day the day before.

The MBR also warns that "Internal rythms are varied and constantly changing. People that are determined to adapt their behaviour according to time eventually discover that they don't develop their potential with their own detriment or in their job".

Time as a natural force

The MBR claims that: time is like a natural resource that we are awarded when we are born. In a way it is like air, a means of sustenance; and like our fingers and hands, we can let our imagination use it how every it wants. The minutes and the hours, even the weeks and the years, are convenient time images that give people a common base to share and understand what happens.

Your aim is to defeat the worry you have about the future, with the aim of having a vision of time as a whole.

Stop seeing time as your master, as an enemy, as a mystery, as a slave or as a referee. The best way to use time is as a neutral factor in our lives that flows through our lives and exists until we determine what we want to do with it.
