As you can see in the first image, I trace her head and hair, and begin changing her expression.
The first one is a soft smile. I achieve it by adding edged eyes, raising her eye brows in the shape of an arch (to represent a happy surprise) and curving her lips upward to form a smile.
To make her laugh, her eye brows will still be in an arch but bent higher, her eyes will be closed, and her mouth will be completely open in a happy gesture.
